Summer Travel

PhD students in History of Art often spend their summers doing some exciting things. Here are a few from 2019:

Lauren van Haaften-Schick is an artist mentor and seminar leader at the SOMA Summer residency program in Mexico City. On August 14 and 16 she will also present a two-part public seminar on her research, titled "Conceptual Art Against the Law," at the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo, Campus Expandido.

History of Art PhD student Evan Allen returned to the Cornell-Reading excavations at the Casa della Regina Carolina in Pompeii, Italy as a trench supervisor. He and his team (pictured above) excavated part of the garden in relation to two household shrines, continuing the project's goals of investigating the relationships between domestic material culture, social performance, and historical change. More information on the CRC Pompeii excavations can be found at http://blogs.cornell.edu/crcpompeii/.
