Sam Lewitt will speak Monday, April 15th, 2019 in Milstein Auditorium at 4:30 pm
Sam Lewitt is an artist living in New York. His work takes the form of interventions into the infrastructure of display, throwing into relief material forms of power that circulate through specific sites. Recent solo exhibitions include Galerie Buchholz, Berlin (2017), Kunsthalle Basel (2016), Swiss Institute, New York (2016) and the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art, San Francisco (2015). This work has been featured in major group exhibitions such as the 57th Venice Biennale (2017) and the 2012 Whitney Biennial. His work is held in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Mumok, Vienna, and the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris. In 2018, exhibitions featuring his work took place at Vienna Secession, Kunsthall Bergen and la Panacée, Montpelier. Recently, he was the recipient of a major new commission by Frieze/BMW Open Work. Lewitt will be speaking about his recent work.
