Yasufumi Nakamori (PhD ’11), Senior Curator at Tate Modern has co-curated the exhibition, Zanele Muholi, which runs from November 5, 2020 till March 7, 2021. Zanele Muholi is one of the most acclaimed photographers working today, and their work has been exhibited all over the world. From the early 2000s, Muholi documented and celebrated the lives of South Africa’s black lesbian, gay, trans, queer and intersex communities. With over 260 photographs, this exhibition presents the full breadth of their career to date.
The exhibition is co-curated along with Sarah Allen, Assistant Curator with Kerryn Greenberg, Head of International Collection Exhibitions, Tate and formerly Curator, and organized by Tate Modern in collaboration with the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, Gropius Bau in Berlin and Bildmuseet at Umeå University. It will be accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue and a programme of talks and events in the gallery.
