Prof. Stager examined color in ancient Mediterranean art, in particular color’s relationship to matter and vision. She also talked about the color’s materiality in the context of artists’ depictions of eyes, ideas about vision circulating in the ancient Mediterranean, and the expanding medium of mosaic.
