The History of Art Department PhD students have exciting summers, traveling and researching in the field.
Sardis, Turkey
Members of Cornell's History of Art and Visual Studies Department excavated in Sardis, Turkey. ARTH PhD student, Jessica Plant worked side-by-side with alumni Frances Marques. History of Art faculty Benjamin Anderson and Annetta Alexandridis were able to join them early in the season.
History of Art PhD student Evan Allen and PhD candidate Kaja Tally-Schumacher took part in the first season of excavations at the Casa della Regina Carolina in Pompeii, Italy. The Cornell-led excavations, in collaboration with the University of Reading, featured graduate students and professors from the History of Art, Anthropology, Landscape Architecture and Classics.
Bashkiria, Russia
PhD student Betty Hensellek met with archivists in Ufa, Samara and Perm, Russia and then also met with several colleagues and friends at the Hermitage and IHMC in SPb.
