History of Art Senior Honors Thesis Symposium

On March 22nd, 2024 all five of History of Art's graduating seniors presented Honors Theses on diverse and impressive topics. Each presentation was carefully thought-out, well researched, and showed a great breadth of scholarly interest amongst this years' senior class.

The students and their projects are as follows:

- Allegra Kidd Albanese. “Vigorously Individual: Reframing Sandra Blow's Artistic Narrative, 1950-1959.”

- Lindy Liu. “The Repatriation of Cultural Objects - From China to the World.”

- Noah Rice. “Transatlantic Depictions of the Indigenous American Interior: The Missouri River Valley and European Scientific Observers in the 21st Century.”

- Caroline Scherr. “Judy Chicago: Inspiration for a New Synthesis of Feminism and Judaism.”

- Hui Yuan. “The Averted Gaze in Byzantine Depictions of the Virgin.”

These Honors Theses represent a culmination of over a year's worth of work. Many of the projects presented began well before last Fall and are continuations of topics student worked on for term papers in previous classes. History of Art faculty present at the symposium noted the impressive progression of these projects from their first iterations and congratulated the students on their overwhelmingly successful presentations.

History of Art students will defend these projects before a faculty committee in May for the awarding of their official honors distinctions.
