Student Awards

The Frances Sampson Fine Arts Prize is traditionally given to the member or members of the senior class who consistently demonstrated academic excellence, commitment, and achievement, particularly in the field of history of art. Established by Professor Martin Wright Sampson in 1909, the prize includes a cash award, typically used for scholarly books, travel, or other activities related to our field. In 2022 this prize was awarded to Kyle Castellanos and Sarah Knight.

The Alumni Distinguished Leadership Award is given to a member of the senior class who in her or his time as a major has demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to the field of history of art. It was established in 2019 by Cornell History of Art alumni through their gifts to the department. The cash award is meant to be used for scholarly books, travel, or other activities related to our field. In 2022 this prize was awarded to Grace Tran.
