ARTH 4110/ 6010 Curatorial Practicum

This course will explore visual and literary material surrounding women’s engagement in U. S. politics over the past two centuries. The seminar is collaborative and thematic, combining the expertise of museum curators with professors in the History of Art and Visual Studies. Drawing from the Johnson Museum’s holdings and material at the Cornell University Library, students will be encouraged to explore the politics of display, museum interventions and institutional critique. Students will curate a small exhibition at the Johnson museum. Requirements include oral presentations and a 15 page research paper.
